Rotary is...

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 am by President Elect Dan.

Dan announced anyone could jump in and make or bring an item to share for breakfast anytime.

Volunteers are needed for Saturday’s Farmer’s Market.

Earthkeep Farmcommon and Will Raap is giving a free presentation tonight at the farm on Route 7 regarding regenerative farming.

The school feeding project is still in need of a few more volunteers.

There are no new updates for the crocus planting project.

October 22 is the Wood 4 Good Chittenden county Rotary event, Dan sent out a signup sheet recently via email.

Richard announced Moon Dog will be playing music after the parade on October 30th.  Donuts will be sold at the Fire Station as well.

Ric shared the sales of the No Car Raffle are slowly coming together, with a lot of phone calls!  He passed out $10 raffle tickets to the club to “sell.” For every twenty-seven sold a winner will be pulled for a free calcutta ball.

Dan asked about the Thanksgiving turkey donation, The Food Shelf will provide the list of names as we get closer to the event.

Rotary Club of Burlington sent an invitation our club an invitation to their event 100th anniversary on October 19.  Link to their club and registration can be found at https://www.burlingtonvtrotary.org/

Bob wrapped up the Golf Ball Drop fundraiser, noting 1,046 balls were sold, 855 on line, 190 at Farmer’s Market and Lantman’s and the rest mostly after the online sale ended. The net was about $8,000 after prizes and expenses were paid, the gross was $10,400.  Dan thanked Bob and Denis and the volunteers and individuals who participated.  Plans will be formulated to donate the funds to the emergency services of Charlotte, Shelburne and Hinesburg.

Dan mentioned we need to start thinking about the coat drive soon.

Denis collected the happy fines.

It was suggested that we advertise Major General Gregory Knight, Vermont National Guard, who will be our speaker near Veteran’s Day in November.  This will require some planning for our meeting and the additional attendees.

Hunger Free VT did not make the meeting, Margaret will reach out to see if rescheduling is a possibility.
