Meeting of August 3, 2016
 
Steve Dates ‘rang the bell’ calling the meeting to order at 7:30
Steve led the Pledge of Allegiance
Followed by a benediction by Kris Engstrom
 
After ten minutes of camaraderie Steve opened the meeting:
 
First by announcing three thank you notes received for recent club donations to -
 
Howard Center, Shelburne Rescue, Shelburne Destination Imagination Team

Guest Debby Ingram introduced herself and announced she is running for State Senate
She is a Member Williston Rotary Club, on the Williston Select Board, and runs a non-profit for the benefit of the community.
 
Randy Brock also said hello and happy to visit our vibrant club
 
New Business:
 
Alan Bates reminded members that the football starts Sept 11th  and he will be running a pool again. The buy in will remain at $50. Members had much fun last year and he is hoping for strong participation. Offer the opportunity to your friends and family. Greater participation raises more money for the our club as this is a 50/50 pool.
Alan will be reminding us more about the pick method and to get picks as early as possible to make the process smoother.
 
Linda Gilbert, one of our winners from last year, feels the excitement already.

George Schiavone introduced our speaker Jane Swift – Former Republican Governor of Massachusetts
 
She spoke on many topics from being a lieutenant Governor to Governor
to being a Woman in politics - to what it was like to be Governor on 911
when the terrorists used planes that took off from Logan, a Massachusetts airport.
How hard it was to loose over 1,000 of residents of Massachusetts under her watch.
 
She talked about the advancement of the TSA.
 
She also spoke to the brighter side of a number of things.
 
She spoke about politics today and was very candid on her position looking forward to November.
 
A number of questions came from the floor.
 
Jane now lives in Vermont.
