LUND: Charlotte Blend gave an overview of the many programs now operated by Lund. Founded in 1890 as "The Home for Friendless Women", a maternity home for poor women who would leave after giving birth and the babies would then be put up for adoption. Lund now offers statewide services and while it still offers adoption services, its mission and program offerings have changed enormously.  Family Programs in particular have grown and changed with a focus on parenting support, adult education, and therapeutic child care. Programs for and including fathers are now available. The Residential Program now permits mothers and children to prepare for the addition of a new sibling. Independence Place offers transitional housing for young families. Lund works closely with Vermont Department for Children and Families to train and support fost families especially for older children. The Hoehl Family Building was acquired in 2012 to expand family-based and childcare services. Many members were impressed with the changes and discussed possible collaborations in future community service events.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT:  SHHHH! THIS PROJECT IS A SECRET AND CANNOT BE REVEALED UNTIL A LATER DATE! Thanks to the efforts of Linda Gilbert, Margo Plank, John Hammer, Roz Graham (and probably others this writer does not know about), you'll be hearing about this wonderful project in mid-June! STAY TUNED!
