Mike Pieciak addresses the Shelburne Charlotte Hinesburg Rotary Club
Teresa Wood from the Waterbury Rotary Club addressed the club, presenting Jessica Brumstead with a Paul Harris award!!  Teresa said Jessica exhibits the epitome of the Rotary “service above self” motto. Congratulations Jessica!

Mike shared some statistical evidence of a shift in Vermont post pandemic, experiencing a younger population moving to Vermont with 6,000 new Vermonters in 2022. This is unprecented growth for the thirty-five years the data has been collected.  This includes people from 20 to 44 years old.  Their gross income is healthy thereby increasing Vermont’s income taxes.  Housing and attracting these younger people are our greatest challenges.

New programs are enhancing Vermont’s financial profile, such as:   “10% Growth in Vermont.” This is a program designed to develop housing projects and there are roughly, 1100 housing units now in the planning stages.

“Vermont Saves’ is another program helping employees save who do not have employer funded retirement programs.  Mandatory for employers with five or more employees, rolling out in the next eighteen months, with no cost to the employer.

The Book “Nudge: Improving Decisions About Health, Wealth, and Happiness” by Richard H. Thaler was presented to Mike and will be presented to Hinesburg Library.
