Ric’s Boston Marathon Story

Ric and Teena Flood were at the Boston Marathon to cheer on daughter Megan. They watched her pass at Mile 6, Mile 13 and Mile 18. Then Ric and Teena drove downtown and began to walk towards the finish line. They were about two and a half blocks from the finish line when the first explosion happened and pandemonium broke out.

With the chaos and the loss of cellphone service, it was 1 hour and 20 minutes before they were able to talk to Megan who, like the others who had not reached the finish, had been diverted. “We were overwhelmed with the way the people of Boston instantly began helping the runners on the course, runners who were unable to reach the family tent where they would have met their families and picked up their belongings. People were sharing cellphones, wrapping the runners in coats and blankets, taking them into their homes.
