Charlie Jones gave us an overview of his committee's strategic plan for developing bicycle and pedestrian paths in Shelburne.

Charlie Jones from the Shelburne Bicycle and Pedestrian Paths Committee will discuss planning with the club today.

 

Dan called the meeting to order at 7:30.  He welcomed Charlie Jones.

 

July 20 is the next club board meeting.

 

July 26, Sophie is away and Chris and his team will handle breakfast.

 

 September 15 is the Golf Ball Drop and the sales platform is ready to go!  QCR code is ready.

 

September 9 is the next Race Vermont at the Shelburne Beach.  Rayne offered our club the opportunity to set up a food tent and utilize the proceeds for donation,etc.  We will also be doing the parking management.   

 

July 15 at 11:00 at The Charlotte Congregational Church is the service for Jim Spadaccini.  Gail and Linda G will be ushers at the event.  

 

Charlie came to present a Strategic Plan for the Shelburne Bicycle & Pedestrian Path. Charlie is a member of the committee along with Nicole Carpenter, also in attendance.  

 

Charlie highlighted the themes of the plan as the following:

 

  1. The promotion of safe routes for children to get to school,
  2. The linking of Shelburne’s treasured places to promote economic vitality, social interaction and public health, and 
  3. Influencing the development of environmentally friendly non-vehicular infrastructure that emphasizes safe and convenient mobility within Shelburne and to neighboring communities.

 

Charlie also shared the vision statement of the committee:

 

  • Planned development of neighborhoods and economic zones co-located with services; linked by
  • safe, sustainable, environmentally friendly, convenient and interconnected sidewalks, trails, paths, and lanes; that enable
  • an array of non-vehicular mobility options, such as biking and walking, for all ages and abilities; which
  • promote health, energy efficiency, economic vitality, and social engagement and link neighborhoods to key destinations.
